Up Your Water Game by Trying These 3 Water Infusions

We’re closing in on the final weeks of the SportPort 60-Day Challenge! This week, we’re going to be talking about an issue that many people face: not drinking enough water. We all have our reasons for falling behind on our daily intake but when a refreshing flavor element is added; water can become much more desirable.

Water gives us life, so it’s no wonder that we need to drink a lot to stay hydrated & healthy. According to the Mayo Clinic, the average woman needs to drink about three liters of water a day. Additionally, active women need even more than the daily recommended value since they lose water in the form of sweat. Fitness generally requires more water intake to operate optimally and this number can seem intimidating for many people. Especially, if you’re trying to drink eight glasses a day while running around trying to keep the boat afloat. In fact, you may even find that drinking water is just another task that you have to fit in throughout your busy day! Luckily, that’s where water infusions make drinking water fun and uber quenching!

Fruit or herb-infused water is nothing new in the world. In fact, its roots can be traced all the way back to the renaissance! Today, it’s a popular drink among lifestyle influencers, medical professionals, and can most likely be found at any high-end spa. Some people claim that infused water has additional health benefits than plain water. While the jury is still out on whether that’s fact or fiction, it’s certainly true that staying hydrated has numerous benefits. Studies have shown that drinking water can aid with weight loss when paired with other healthy habits. Plus, it can help keep your internal organs healthy while also brightening your complexion! Check out some of our favorite infused water recipes below to help you stay happy, healthy, and hydrated all year long!

Added Bonus: Throwing in leftover fruits, herbs & veggies into your water that might otherwise go to waste, is a good way to use-up extra produce!

Most people think of savory, Italian dinners when they think of basil, but did you know that it also pairs well with fruit?! Basil has a light, refreshing flavor profile that complements the sweetness of strawberries quite nicely. If you’re looking for a bright and subtle drink for those warm spring days, this infusion is a great pick!

Rosemary and Lemon

Lemon water is already refreshing, and adding rosemary and blueberries only makes it even better!

Rosemary may seem like an odd choice for infused water, but it’s surprisingly delicious! Rosemary and citrus water is a popular choice at spas because it has a flavor that is uplifting without being overpowering. Plus, these ingredients will keep for a long time, which means that you can prepare large batches at once. If you’re up for a different citrus spin, grapefruit also works well for this classic combo infusion!

Watermelon and summer go together like sunscreen and sunshine, so it is no wonder that this infusion is a favorite for hot summer days!
